About the Role
The Department of Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment is seeking a dedicated Environmental Officer (Production Grade A) to join its team at the Langjan Nature Reserve. What You’ll Do
- Plan and implement conservation management programs within the nature reserve.
- Execute law enforcement initiatives to protect the reserve’s natural resources.
- Promote awareness of biodiversity conservation among local communities.
- Oversee infrastructure management and recreational facilities within the reserve.
- Conduct surveys and record data to monitor environmental conditions.
- Engage with stakeholders to foster collaboration and support for conservation efforts.
- Manage tourism activities and related administrative functions in the reserve.
- Ensure effective resource management (financial, human, and physical) in line with relevant regulations.
What You’ll Need
- An NQF 6 qualification in Nature Conservation, Wildlife Management, Environmental Management, Natural Sciences, or an equivalent recognized by SAQA.
- A minimum of three years’ experience in the Nature Conservation field.
- A SAPS Firearm Competency Certificate and a valid driver’s license (exceptions may apply).
- A clean criminal record.
- Strong knowledge of Nature Reserve management and relevant legislation.
- Proficiency in report writing and computer literacy.
- Excellent communication, people management, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage change and diversity effectively.
