What You’ll Do

  • Conduct comprehensive audits and inspections of underground and surface operations related to occupational health.
  • Report on medical surveillance matters and take appropriate enforcement actions.
  • Investigate and document mine-related diseases, complaints, and contraventions.
  • Analyse regional disease trends to identify high-risk mining operations and recommend necessary actions.
  • Provide input on Mine Closures, Prospecting Rights, Mining Rights, and permits.
  • Contribute to regional reports and assist in revising medical regulations and standards.
  • Evaluate applications for exemptions, permissions, and approvals related to occupational medicine.

What You’ll Need

  • A Bachelor of Nursing Science (B Cur) or National Diploma/B Tech Occupational Health Nursing (NQF Level 6) registered with the South African Nursing Council (SANC).
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience in Occupational Medicine or Health.
  • A valid Driver’s License.
  • Strong knowledge of occupational medical and nursing practices, as well as mining health and safety regulations.
  • Excellent research, communication, and investigative skills.
  • Proficiency in computer literacy and the ability to recognize and respond to health and safety hazards.
  • A dedicated, hard-working, and conscientious approach to occupational health within the mining industry.
