What You’ll Do
- Process water use authorisations and conduct inspections to ensure compliance with relevant legislation.
- Liaise with clients and stakeholders to gather necessary information during water use authorisation assessments.
- Conduct criminal investigations into non-compliance issues.
- Access and evaluate hydrological and environmental information regarding authorisation applications.
- Draft records of recommendations (RoRs) and decision documents based on findings.
- Develop license conditions to mitigate negative impacts from water use.
- Comment on Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA’s) and other environmental reports.
- Respond to queries from clients and perform administrative tasks related to the role.
What You’ll Need
- A National Diploma or Degree in Natural Sciences.
- A minimum of three years of experience in a relevant field is preferred.
- A valid, unexpired driver’s license.
- Knowledge of integrated water resource management and water use authorisations.
- Familiarity with legislation such as the National Water Act (NWA), Conservation of Agricultural Resources Act (CARA), and National Environmental Management Act (NEMA).
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and in report writing.
- The ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team.
- Willingness to work irregular hours and travel extensively.
