What You’ll Do

• Process water use authorisations and conduct inspections to ensure compliance with relevant legislation.
• Liaise with clients and stakeholders to gather necessary information during water use authorisation assessments.
• Conduct criminal investigations into non-compliance issues.
• Access and evaluate hydrological and environmental information regarding authorisation applications.
• Draft records of recommendations (RoRs) and decision documents based on findings.
• Develop license conditions to mitigate negative impacts from water use.
• Comment on Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA’s) and other environmental reports.
• Respond to queries from clients and perform administrative tasks related to the role.

What You’ll Need

• A National Diploma or Degree in Natural Sciences.
• A minimum of three years of experience in a relevant field is preferred.
• A valid, unexpired driver’s license.
• Knowledge of integrated water resource management and water use authorisations.
• Familiarity with legislation such as the National Water Act (NWA), Conservation of Agricultural Resources Act (CARA), and National Environmental Management Act (NEMA).
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and in report writing.
• The ability to work effectively in a multi-disciplinary team.
• Willingness to work irregular hours and travel extensively.
