What You’ll Do

• Develop and implement methodologies, policies, and systems for the conservation of PGRFA.
• Conduct technical scientific analysis and provide recommendations based on findings.
• Participate in research activities and perform field surveys to gather data.
• Maintain, calibrate, and operate scientific equipment.
• Provide technical support and advice on conservation efforts.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to promote awareness of scientific activities related to plant genetic resources.
• Manage databases and perform data analysis to inform decision-making.
• Mentor and train junior staff to foster skills and knowledge transfer.
• Prepare reports and proposals to communicate findings and recommendations effectively.

What You’ll Need

• A Grade 12 certificate and a National Diploma in Science or a relevant qualification.
• Compulsory registration with the South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions (SACNASP) as a Certified Natural Scientist.
• A minimum of 3 years of post-qualification experience in botany, horticulture, agronomy, agriculture, or conservation of plant genetic resources.
• Knowledge of scientific methodologies, project management, and legal compliance.
• Strong skills in data analysis, technical report writing, and communication.
• A valid driver’s license and the ability to work extended hours when necessary.
