What You’ll Do

  • Provide pre-hospital treatment within the scope of Basic Life Support.
  • Transport patients to appropriate health facilities safely.
  • Implement emergency medical procedures and protocols effectively.
  • Operate in various EMS environments including ambulances and communication centres.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure optimal patient care.
  • Remain available for national and international disaster relief deployments.
  • Maintain flexibility to adapt to shifting service delivery needs.

What You’ll Need

  • A Grade 12 certificate with science subjects.
  • An Intermediate Life Support Certificate (AEA) and current registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as an Ambulance Emergency Assistant.
  • A valid driver’s license (Code C1) with a professional driving permit.
  • Computer literacy, particularly in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills essential for patient interaction and teamwork.
  • Knowledge of emergency medical services and relevant regulations.
  • The ability to work under pressure and manage patient care effectively.
