What You’ll Do

  • Manage and lead the Employee Health and Wellness Programme Strategy for the Gauteng Provincial Government.
  • Align provincial wellness initiatives with national policies from the Department of Public Service and Administration.
  • Provide strategic direction on occupational health and psychosocial support for employees.
  • Drive innovation and implement best practices across various provincial departments.
  • Integrate employee health and wellness priorities into broader transformation and human capital strategies.
  • Oversee service providers and contracts related to wellness programs, ensuring compliance with service level agreements.
  • Monitor and evaluate wellness interventions, addressing any gaps in service delivery.
  • Facilitate collaboration with health and wellness institutions and build partnerships with stakeholders in the field.
  • Represent the Employee Health and Wellness Programme at national and provincial forums.
  • Manage the resources of your directorate to ensure effective service delivery.

What You’ll Need

  • An NQF level 7 qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Industrial Psychology, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience at a middle to senior managerial level in Employee Health and Wellness or Occupational Health and Safety.
  • Strategic leadership capabilities in Employee Health and Wellness, with a thorough understanding of related frameworks and standards.
  • Strong policy development, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting skills.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and intergovernmental relations capabilities.
  • Proficiency in programme and project management, financial management, and knowledge management.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and effective verbal and written communication abilities.
  • A proven ability to coordinate a transversal Employee Health and Wellness Programme across various departments.

Requirements

An NQF level 7 qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Industrial Psychology, Occupational Health and Safety or Behavioural Sciences or Medical/Health related field.

5 years of experience at a middle/senior managerial level in Employee Health and Wellness, Occupational Health and Safety, or a related environment.

Key Competencies: Strategic leadership in Employee Health and Wellness, extensive knowledge of EHWP Strategic Frameworks and standards relating to Occupational Health and Productivity Management, Psychosocial Support and HIV,TB and STI health promotion strategies; policy development and governance; monitoring, evaluation and reporting; stakeholder and intergovernmental relations; research and analytical skills; programme and project management; financial and people management; knowledge management; service delivery innovation; problem-solving; and strong verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to drive a coordinated, transversal Employee Health and Wellness Programme across the Gauteng Provincial Government.

Job Duties

Manage and lead Employee Health and Wellness Programme Strategy in the Gauteng Provincial Government (GPG).

Align provincial programmes with national policies issued by the Department of Public Service and Administration (DPSA).

Provide strategic direction on employee wellness occupational health and psychosocial support.

Drive innovation and best practices in the workplace across provincial GPG departments.

Integrate EHW priorities into broader provincial transformation and human capital strategies.

Manage EHWP Service providers and contracts.

Oversee the performance of the contracted service providers against the SLA’s.

Review service delivery and address gaps.

Manage Wellness programmes by overseeing the initiatives such as Employee Assistance Programmes (HIV, TB, and STI Management, Health promotion, Mental Health Support, Substance Abuse Management, Financial Wellness and Occupational Health and Safety.

Provide guidance on ethical and confidential management of employee wellness matters.

Identify and mitigate risks impacting employee wellbeing and productivity.

Monitor the implementation of wellness interventions.

Facilitate collaboration with health and wellness institutions.

Build and foster internal and external stakeholder partnerships with medical aid providers, academic institutions and wellness organisations.

Represent the Programme at national and provincial forums.

Manage the human, financial and other resources of the Directorate to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of services.

Salary
