What You’ll Do

  • Provide strategic leadership and direction in sports management within the province.
  • Develop and implement policies related to sports and recreation activities.
  • Oversee the creation and execution of the Strategic Plan and Annual Performance Plan for the unit.
  • Manage community sport initiatives, school sport programs, and high-performance strategies.
  • Collaborate with the North West Provincial Sport Confederation and federations to enhance sports strategies.
  • Monitor and evaluate the implementation of the Mass Participation Conditional Grant Business Plan.
  • Prepare and collate performance reports and documentation for review.
  • Conduct assessments and ensure compliance with performance expectations for funded entities.
  • Foster relationships with sports stakeholders to promote collaboration and support.
  • Implement performance management systems to enhance staff development and accountability.

What You’ll Need

  • A Grade 12 Certificate and a Degree/Advanced Diploma/B-Tech at NQF Level 7 in Sports Management, Administration, Biokinetics, or a relevant qualification.
  • A minimum of five years of relevant experience in Middle or Senior Management roles.
  • A valid driver’s license and the completion of an SMS pre-entry program for consideration.
  • Extensive knowledge of the sports industry, government legislation, and policies.
  • Strong leadership, financial management, and people management skills.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills, both verbal and written.
  • Competence in problem-solving and analytical thinking.
  • Proficiency in report writing and presentation skills.
  • Adept at using digital tools and technology for management and reporting purposes.
