About the Role
The Department of Economic Development and Tourism is seeking a dedicated and experienced professional for the role of Director: SOC Governance and Legal Assurance, based at the Head Office in Pretoria. What You’ll Do
- Develop standardized SOC governance review and reporting instruments.
- Lead and participate in governance assurance projects to evaluate compliance.
- Provide technical advisory services to executive management regarding SOC Board appointments and dismissals.
- Coordinate and implement the DEE’s legal assurance policy regime and governance frameworks.
- Draft legal opinions regarding the shareholder interface process with SOC Boards.
- Manage the Directorate effectively, ensuring high performance and accountability.
What You’ll Need
- An appropriate degree in Business Administration and/or Legal Studies at NQF level 7, recognized by SAQA.
- Pre-entry certificate for SMS (Nyukela).
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience at the middle/senior managerial level in Legal or Corporate Governance.
- Comprehensive knowledge of legislative and policy prescripts relevant to the Department and its SOCs.
- Strong understanding of corporate governance, Company law, PFMA, and strategic planning.
- Excellent communication, financial management, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Proven integrity, leadership capability, and change management skills.
