What You’ll Do
- Manage media relations and communication functions to enhance the department’s reputation.
- Coordinate media briefings, public information sessions, and interviews.
- Oversee the drafting and distribution of media invitations and statements.
- Monitor and analyze media coverage and trends.
- Develop and implement media strategies and communication plans.
- Facilitate media training workshops for departmental officials.
- Lead intergovernmental communication programs and manage related relationships.
- Participate in relevant intergovernmental forums and working groups.
What You’ll Need
- An undergraduate qualification (NQF7) in Communication or a related field recognized by SAQA.
- A minimum of five years’ experience at a middle or senior managerial level in communication or media relations.
- Successful completion of the Senior Management Pre-entry Programme endorsed by the National School of Government (NSG).
- Extensive knowledge of media and public relations.
- Strong strategic capability and leadership skills, with the ability to manage and empower a team.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with a sense of responsibility and loyalty.
- Proficiency in project and financial management, as well as research and analytical skills.
