What You’ll Do

  • Provide technical and administrative support to the Minister for the Public Service and Administration.
  • Lead the development and implementation of norms, standards, and policies for public service transformation.
  • Serve as the Accounting Officer/Head of Department, ensuring compliance with legislative and regulatory requirements.
  • Create a dynamic environment for policy development to address public service needs effectively.
  • Manage the performance and development of direct reports and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Promote inter and intra-governmental relations and collaborate with various government clusters.
  • Oversee the strategic management of departmental plans, ensuring effective execution, monitoring, and evaluation.

What You’ll Need

  • A postgraduate qualification (NQF level 8) in Public Administration, Public Management, Business Administration, Economic and Management Sciences, Law, or a related field.
  • At least 10 years of experience at a senior managerial level, with a proven track record in the South African public service or related sectors.
  • Extensive experience in leading and transforming organizations, with a strong emphasis on policy analysis and public policy development.
  • Advanced knowledge of Public Administration theories, relevant government legislation, and policies.
  • Strong decision-making, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Proven abilities in strategic management, financial management, human resources management, and risk management.
