What You’ll Do

  • Manage the implementation and updating of the maintenance management system for Academic Maintenance Hubs.
  • Oversee the provision of electrical, mechanical, and building maintenance services.
  • Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act across all facilities.
  • Monitor the performance of suppliers and contractors, intervening when standards are not met.
  • Develop strategies and plans for the Academic Maintenance Hubs that align with departmental priorities.
  • Prepare and present management reports on hub performance and departmental progress.
  • Manage the training and development of subordinates to ensure high-quality service delivery.
  • Develop and oversee the annual operational plan and budget management in compliance with regulations.

What You’ll Need

  • An undergraduate qualification at NQF Level 7 in a Built Environment field (e.g., Engineering, Architecture, Project Management).
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a middle/senior managerial role within the built environment.
  • Registration with the relevant professional council.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • A Pre-Entry Senior Management Service Certificate submitted prior to appointment.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations (e.g., PFMA, OHS Act, National Building Standards).
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, negotiation, and analytical skills.
