What You’ll Do

• Develop and manage policies and standards for the sustainable management of indigenous forests and woodlands.
• Monitor the implementation of environmental policies and compliance with biodiversity management frameworks.
• Conduct conservation planning and evaluate the socio-economic values of forest patches.
• Create and oversee Regional Forest Management plans, focusing on rehabilitation and sustainable harvesting.
• Ensure ecological monitoring of forests and conduct audits in line with national standards.
• Analyse environmental assessments and ensure compliance with relevant legislation.
• Manage the Regional Annual Plan of Operation and provide guidance on best practices to regions.

What You’ll Need

• A National Diploma (NQF 6) in Forestry, Environmental Science, Environmental Management, or a relevant qualification recognized by SAQA.
• At least five years of experience in Indigenous or Commercial Forestry, with three years in a junior managerial role.
• Strong understanding of environmental legislation, including the National Forest Act and NEMA.
• Excellent people management, planning, and leadership skills.
• Proficient communication skills, both verbal and written.
• A valid driving license and willingness to travel as required.
