What You’ll Do

  • Develop and implement the SMME strategy for the Department of Agriculture.
  • Conduct desktop research on the status of SMMEs in the agricultural sector.
  • Align draft documents with the National Policy on Comprehensive Producer Development Support and other relevant policies.
  • Manage the consultation process with various branches and support directorates to gather insights on SMME support interventions.
  • Compile annual reports and documents for EXCO approval regarding SMME strategies.
  • Facilitate stakeholder engagement and manage data systems for effective reporting and analysis.
  • Provide guidance and support for the presentations of draft documents to various forums.
  • Oversee the resources of the sub-directorate, ensuring the effective utilization of budget and staff.

What You’ll Need

  • A Grade 12 Certificate and a Degree in Agricultural Economics, Economics, Business Management, or Development Studies.
  • At least 3 years of junior management experience in an agricultural economics environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant legislation, including the BBBEE Act and the National Small Business Amendment Act.
  • Strong leadership, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent negotiation abilities and a high level of integrity.
  • Capability to work independently and under pressure.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel extensively.
