What You’ll Do
- Manage and direct the activities of the regional office to ensure efficient operations.
- Oversee prosecutorial decisions and provide essential legal advice to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
- Ensure compliance with all relevant legal prescripts and organizational policies.
- Promote stakeholder engagement and partnership initiatives.
- Monitor operational performance, identifying deficiencies and implementing improvement plans.
- Conduct specialized litigation in high-profile criminal and civil matters in various courts.
- Analyze case dockets and make informed decisions regarding the institution of proceedings.
- Represent the state’s case in court, including witness examination and case argumentation.
- Prepare legal opinions and conduct research relevant to specialized fields of law.
- Train and guide team members and stakeholders on specialized legal matters.
- Oversee resource allocation in alignment with strategic objectives.
What You’ll Need
- A recognized LLB degree or appropriate legal qualification for serving prosecutors.
- A minimum of ten (10) years’ post-qualification experience in civil and/or criminal litigation.
- Knowledge and experience in strategic and operations management.
- Right of appearance as per section 25(2) of the NPA Act, 32 of 1998.
- Strong advocacy and legal drafting skills, with good knowledge of civil and/or criminal procedure.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational leadership skills.
- Ability to think strategically and innovatively while managing resources effectively.
- A valid driver’s license and willingness to travel and work extended hours.
