What You’ll Do
- Promote household food and nutrition security throughout the district.
- Coordinate food security programmes at both departmental and provincial levels.
- Engage and liaise with key stakeholders to plan and implement food security initiatives.
- Represent the department in various food security-related forums.
- Compile and maintain databases of households and institutions benefiting from food security initiatives.
- Create awareness and disseminate information regarding food security.
- Monitor and evaluate the implementation and impact of food security initiatives.
- Supervise and manage staff within the food security unit.
- Participate in human capital development initiatives and performance management.
- Assist in budget planning and manage grant funding for food security programmes.
What You’ll Need
- A Grade 12 certificate plus a recognised Honours Degree or Post Graduate Diploma in Agriculture (NQF 8).
- A minimum of 3 years’ experience at the Assistant Director level, preferably in a food security environment.
- Compulsory registration with SACNASP.
- Comprehensive knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations governing the Public Service.
- An understanding of South African government priorities related to food security and agrarian reform.
- Strong financial management, strategic capability, and leadership skills.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and people management abilities.
- A valid driver’s license and willingness to travel and work extended hours.
