What You’ll Do

• Promote household food and nutrition security throughout the district.
• Coordinate food security programmes at both departmental and provincial levels.
• Engage and liaise with key stakeholders to plan and implement food security initiatives.
• Represent the department in various food security-related forums.
• Compile and maintain databases of households and institutions benefiting from food security initiatives.
• Create awareness and disseminate information regarding food security.
• Monitor and evaluate the implementation and impact of food security initiatives.
• Supervise and manage staff within the food security unit.
• Participate in human capital development initiatives and performance management.
• Assist in budget planning and manage grant funding for food security programmes.

What You’ll Need

• A Grade 12 certificate plus a recognised Honours Degree or Post Graduate Diploma in Agriculture (NQF 8).
• A minimum of 3 years’ experience at the Assistant Director level, preferably in a food security environment.
• Compulsory registration with SACNASP.
• Comprehensive knowledge of relevant legislation and regulations governing the Public Service.
• An understanding of South African government priorities related to food security and agrarian reform.
• Strong financial management, strategic capability, and leadership skills.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and people management abilities.
• A valid driver’s license and willingness to travel and work extended hours.
