What You’ll Do

  • Implement and enforce the National Water Act and relevant environmental legislation.
  • Assist in developing policies and regulations that promote compliance.
  • Monitor compliance through inspections and audits of water use licenses and environmental standards.
  • Conduct investigations and prepare reports for enforcement actions.
  • Liaise with other enforcement agencies and government institutions to ensure coordinated efforts in compliance.
  • Supervise and mentor staff in adherence to VOCMA policies and procedures.
  • Provide advice to sector bodies on policies and strategies related to water resource management.
  • Ensure timely submission of reports and maintain compliance with Standard Operating Procedures.

What You’ll Need

  • A four-year degree in Natural Science or Environmental Science, or a relevant qualification.
  • Six years of post-qualification experience in compliance monitoring and enforcement.
  • A valid, unexpired driver’s license.
  • Extensive knowledge of environmental and water management, including relevant legislation and policies.
  • Strong analytical and report writing skills with a focus on technical documentation.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • The ability to work irregular hours and travel extensively.
  • Strong leadership, negotiation, and conflict management skills.
  • Proficiency in computer literacy.
