What You’ll Do

• Supervise vaccination programmes for controlled animal diseases in accordance with the Animal Diseases Act.
• Oversee disease surveillance activities to monitor and control animal health issues.
• Manage and coordinate the Primary Animal Health Care activities within the state veterinary area.
• Implement the Brucellosis and Tuberculosis Eradication Schemes effectively.
• Oversee the management of dip-tanks and dipping programmes, ensuring compliance with regulations.
• Supervise the inventory of dip-stuff, veterinary materials, and vaccines to ensure availability.
• Facilitate the movement of buffaloes within and out of Mpumalanga Province.
• Direct human resources and transport logistics related to animal health initiatives.
• Implement performance management systems for staff and report progress to your line manager.

What You’ll Need

• A Grade 12 qualification plus a Bachelor’s Degree or National Diploma in Animal Health or a related field.
• Current registration with the South African Veterinary Council (SAVC) as an Animal Health Technician.
• Relevant supervisory experience is considered an advantage.
• Comprehensive knowledge of the Animal Diseases Act and other relevant legislation.
• Strong understanding of animal health, disease control, and animal welfare principles.
• Proficiency in computer literacy and good administrative skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in teams.
• Willingness to travel extensively and work outside of regular hours when necessary.
