What You’ll Do

  • Compile, plan, and implement the district events calendar to engage the community effectively.
  • Support departmental events and activities, ensuring they are well-coordinated and impactful.
  • Monitor and evaluate events to measure their success and gather insights for future improvements.
  • Write and publish articles for the departmental newsletter to keep the community informed.
  • Source and manage information for the department’s intranet and website, ensuring accuracy and accessibility.
  • Develop a comprehensive image bank of departmental events and officials for promotional use.
  • Manage departmental media profiles and establish strong relationships with media outlets.
  • Conduct media monitoring and feedback sessions to enhance communication strategies.
  • Regularly update and maintain a media contact list for effective outreach.
  • Provide engaging content and images for the department’s social media platforms.
  • Foster communication networks at the district level to enhance information dissemination.

What You’ll Need

  • An NQF 6 qualification in Communication, Journalism, Media Studies, Public Relations, Marketing, or an equivalent qualification recognized by SAQA.
  • A minimum of two years’ experience in the communication environment.
  • Strong computer literacy, particularly with MS Office applications.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a knack for interpersonal relations.
  • Ability to present information clearly and write reports effectively.
  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and negotiation skills.
  • A valid driver’s license is required (with exceptions for persons with disabilities).
  • Photographic skills and registration with PRISA will be advantageous.
