About the Role
The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) is seeking dedicated individuals for the role of Close Protector based in Pretoria. This essential position plays a crucial part in ensuring the safety of NPA employees who face threats due to their work in public service. As a Close Protector, you will be entrusted with safeguarding these individuals, allowing them to perform their duties without fear and contributing to a secure legal environment in South Africa. What You’ll Do
- Provide personal protection to assigned NPA employees facing threats
- Conduct threat and risk assessments for identified individuals
- Develop and implement safety route plans before each assignment
- Drive protected individuals to various venues while ensuring safety
- Conduct security appraisals and coordinate with security stakeholders
- Liaise with law enforcement and other institutions for security coordination
- Monitor the operational fleet and ensure vehicles are roadworthy and secure
- Prepare operation plans for approval by department heads
What You’ll Need
- A relevant B Degree (NQF 7) or a three-year Diploma (NQF 6) in Security Management, Policing, or equivalent
- At least three years of experience in VIP close protection in public or private sectors
- VIP close protection training and a valid Firearm Training Certificate
- Advanced close protection skills and valid competency certificate for firearm handling
- Registration with Grade C PSIRA
- Strong planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work independently and under pressure with good interpersonal skills
- Valid driver’s license and advanced driving certificate
- Willingness to travel and work extended hours
