What You’ll Do

  • Manage the Family Medicine unit and oversee the provision of clinical services.
  • Provide management and clinical support for medical officers and interns during normal and after-hours service coverage.
  • Render clinical services to patients in Primary Health Care clinics, rotating through service points as needed.
  • Collaborate with management and clinical teams at district health facilities to ensure quality health services.
  • Offer clinical expertise to district quality assurance and patient safety programs.
  • Implement department policies related to clinical standards and support the development of clinical audits and guidelines.
  • Liaise with District and Regional Hospitals as well as Emergency Medical Services for effective patient referrals.
  • Represent the Family Medicine unit in various clinical and management forums.

What You’ll Need

  • Grade 12/Senior Certificate.
  • MBChB Degree allowing registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Officer.
  • Current registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Practitioner.
  • A minimum of 4 years of experience as a Medical Officer after HPCSA registration.
  • Valid code 8/10 driver’s license.
  • Experience in primary health care with leadership and management skills.
  • Willingness to perform commuted overtime as required.
