What You’ll Do
- Check and authorize salary-related transactions on PERSAL and BAS for department officials.
- Control payment processes for supplementary claims, including overtime and advances.
- Manage the instating of maintenance orders and the cancellation of deductions.
- Oversee local and foreign travel and subsistence claims, ensuring accuracy.
- Ensure the correctness of PERSAL Item Analysis reports and their distribution to financial institutions.
- Reconcile and report on salary-related ledger accounts and manage leave and lump sum payments.
- Compile monthly BAS/PERSAL interface reconciliations and follow up on PERSAL exceptions.
- Approve salary-related debt calculations and manage debtor documentation.
- Supervise subordinates by allocating work and maintaining office discipline.
- Respond to inquiries related to financial functions and file claim-related documents.
What You’ll Need
- A 3-year National Diploma in Accounting or a related field.
- One to two years of relevant experience in Government Financial Accounting.
- Proficiency in the PERSAL and BAS systems, along with knowledge of the PFMA and Treasury Regulations.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, accompanied by computer literacy.
- Excellent problem-solving, planning, organizing, and analytical skills.
- Attributes such as friendliness, trustworthiness, accuracy, and the ability to work under pressure.
- A self-starter who can work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
