What You’ll Do

  • Oversee the management of construction and refurbishment projects, ensuring adherence to design principles and methodologies.
  • Manage project budgets and expenditures, ensuring alignment with departmental objectives.
  • Develop and implement construction management guidelines, processes, and standards to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Monitor compliance with applicable policies and legislation regarding construction management.
  • Lead the Chief Directorate, managing performance and development of employees while fostering effective communication.
  • Identify trends and opportunities for improvement in construction management practices.
  • Establish and maintain internal controls and reporting systems to meet performance expectations.

What You’ll Need

  • A minimum NQF 7 qualification in Engineering, Built Environment, or related field recognized by SAQA.
  • At least 5 years of experience in a senior managerial role within the built environment or construction management.
  • Registration as a Professional Construction Project Manager with the SACPCMP.
  • Extensive knowledge of construction best practices, project management, and relevant legislation.
  • Strong leadership, decision-making, and communication skills, with a focus on customer responsiveness.
  • Proficiency in financial management, planning, and problem-solving.
  • Ability to adapt work schedules according to professional requirements.
