The Department of Health is seeking a dedicated Assistant Manager Nursing (Primary Health Care) to join their team at the Nomzamo Community Development Centre in Khayelitsha. What You’ll Do
- Oversee the corporate and clinical governance of the health facility.
- Implement clinical protocols, guidelines, and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Manage service delivery priorities to address the Burden of Disease effectively.
- Ensure compliance with Quality Assurance standards and IDEAL Clinic implementation.
- Plan and maintain infrastructure for the facility.
- Manage human resources, physical resources, and control financial expenditure.
- Facilitate training programs in collaboration with the Human Resource Development team.
- Liaise with stakeholders for integrated service delivery within the district.
- Provide and assist with services across KESS facilities within the Metro East Ecosystem.
What You’ll Need
- A Basic R425 qualification (diploma/degree in nursing) or equivalent that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse.
- A post-basic nursing qualification in Clinical Nursing Science: Health Assessment, Treatment, and Care, accredited with the SANC.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience as a Professional Nurse in General Nursing.
- At least 6 years of experience post-basic qualification.
- 3 years of recognized management experience.
- A valid Code B/EB driver’s license and a willingness to travel.
- Strong interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills.
- Computer literacy and knowledge of statistical data, financial, and contract management.

Requirements
Minimum educational qualification: Basic R425 qualification (i.e.
diploma/degree in nursing) or equivalent qualification (R683 plus R254) that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse.
A post-basic nursing qualification with a duration of at least 287 1 year diploma in Clinical Nursing Science: Health Assessment, Treatment and Care, accredited with the SANC (R48).
-OR A4 year Bachelor Degree in Nursing (R174) or equivalent qualification (R683 plus R1497 or R171 plus R1497) that allows registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) as a Professional Nurse.
A postgraduate diploma (R635) accredited with the SANC in Primary Health Care Nursing.
Registration with a professional council: Registration with the SANC as Professional Nurse.
Experience: A minimum of 10 years appropriate/recognisable experience in nursing after registration as Professional Nurse in General Nursing.
At least 6 years of the period referred to above must be appropriate/recognisable experience after obtaining the 1- year post-basic qualification reflected as in the requirements above.
At least 3 years of the period referred to above must be appropriate/recognisable experience at management level.
Inherent requirement of the job: Valid (Code B/EB) driver’s licence and willingness to travel.
Competencies (knowledge/skills): The ability to function independently as well as in a multi- disciplinary team (Including the NPO sector).
Good interpersonal, leadership and communication skills.
Computer literacy.
Extensive knowledge with statistical data, financial management and contract Management.
Job Duties
Responsible for the Corporate and Clinical governs of the health facility (services and programs).Responsible for implementing services delivery priorities iro clinical protocols, guidelines and SOP that address the Burden of Disease.
Responsible for Quality Assurance; IDEAL Clinic implementation and infrastructure maintenance planning.
Management of human and physical resources and control of financial expenditure.
-Involvement in training programmes in conjunction with Human Resource development and Training component.
Liaise with relevant role players ensuring an integrated service within the district.
Provide or assist with services within KESS facilities and across the Metro East Ecosystem in accordance with operational requirements and service delivery needs.
