What You’ll Do

• Oversee and provide agricultural extension services to local farmers.
• Promote and implement farmer-driven extension programs and initiatives.
• Coordinate demonstrations of effective farming methods and organize farmers’ days and information sessions.
• Conduct farm visits to assess impacts and gather relevant data for reporting.
• Source technical inputs from specialists to enhance agricultural practices.
• Facilitate the establishment of cooperatives and committees to address identified needs.
• Monitor and evaluate agricultural projects to ensure effectiveness and sustainability.
• Build strong relationships with farmers and stakeholders to promote agricultural initiatives.
• Assist in project planning and provide technical support for business plan development.
• Compile reports on project outcomes and contribute to departmental policy input.

What You’ll Need

• A four-year Agricultural Degree (NQF 8) is required.
• Compulsory registration with the South African Council for Natural Scientific Professions (SACNASP).
• A minimum of 3 to 5 years of relevant agricultural experience.
• A valid driver’s license (code B) is essential.
• Strong analytical skills for assessing agricultural practices and project viability.
• Excellent interpersonal skills for effective stakeholder engagement.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively within a team and independently.
• A commitment to promoting sustainable agricultural practices.
