What You’ll Do
- Conduct daily media monitoring and analysis, producing insightful reports.
- Draft and disseminate press releases to various media outlets.
- Write engaging articles for publications and social media platforms.
- Compile media coverage reports following campaigns and events.
- Organize media interviews and invite media houses to departmental events.
- Maintain an updated media attendance register and database.
- Implement media plans for events and campaigns effectively.
- Facilitate monthly editorial meetings to strategize communication efforts.
- Increase social media engagement through innovative content strategies.
- Plan, manage, and evaluate departmental strategic events in alignment with policies.
- Mobilize relevant stakeholders for departmental activities and advocate for the brand.
- Develop an annual events calendar and associated procurement plans.
- Monitor and manage budgets and expenditures for all events.
- Evaluate event outcomes and track stakeholder engagement progress.
- Provide written contributions to departmental reports on outreach programmes and events.
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislative and regulatory frameworks.
What You’ll Need
- A minimum of a Grade 12 qualification plus a recognized Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced National Diploma in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or Events Management.
- At least 3 years of experience in a communications environment.
- Strong managerial skills including planning, organizing, leading, and controlling.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, and facilitation skills.
- Proven project and programme management skills.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Advanced computer literacy, particularly with MS Office.
- Ability to work under pressure, travel, and work irregular hours.
- A valid driver’s license is required.
