What You’ll Do
- Conduct daily media monitoring and analysis to assess public perception and media impact.
- Draft and disseminate press releases, ensuring clear communication of departmental updates.
- Write engaging articles for publications and manage content for social media platforms.
- Compile comprehensive media coverage reports following campaigns and events.
- Organize media interviews and invite various media houses to departmental events.
- Maintain an updated media database and attendance register for events.
- Implement media plans for campaigns and events to maximize outreach.
- Facilitate monthly editorial meetings to align communication strategies.
- Manage social media engagement and enhance interactions with the community.
- Plan, manage, and evaluate departmental strategic events in compliance with policies.
- Mobilize stakeholders for departmental activities and advocate for the department’s brand.
- Develop an annual events calendar and manage associated procurement plans.
- Monitor budget and expenditure for all events, ensuring financial accountability.
- Evaluate event outcomes and track stakeholder engagement progress.
- Provide written contributions to departmental reports on activities and outreach programmes.
- Ensure compliance with legislative and regulatory frameworks related to communications.
What You’ll Need
- A Grade 12 certificate along with a recognized Bachelor’s Degree or Advanced National Diploma in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, or Events Management.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in a communications environment.
- Strong managerial skills including planning, organizing, leading, and controlling.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, presentation, and facilitation skills.
- Project and programme management capabilities with strong problem-solving skills.
- Advanced computer literacy, particularly in MS Office.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage irregular hours, including travel.
- A valid driver’s license is required.
