What You’ll Do

• Provide technical support and guidance on veterinary programs and animal health initiatives.
• Coordinate disease surveillance, prevention, and control activities to mitigate risks.
• Supervise para-veterinary technical staff, ensuring quality service delivery.
• Manage budgetary and administrative processes, including procurement activities.
• Monitor compliance with veterinary legislation and standards.
• Compile technical and management reports for internal and external stakeholders.
• Liaise with farmers, industry stakeholders, and other government departments to foster collaboration.
• Develop and implement veterinary policies and operational plans that align with strategic objectives.

What You’ll Need

• A Grade 12 certificate plus a recognized Bachelor’s Degree or National Diploma in Animal Health or a related field.
• Current registration with the South African Veterinary Council is essential.
• A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in veterinary services, animal health, disease control, or veterinary administration.
• Experience in supervising staff and managing veterinary programs is advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Animal Diseases Act and Public Finance Management Act.
• Excellent leadership, analytical, and decision-making skills.
• Proficiency in report writing and stakeholder engagement.
• A valid driver’s license is required for this role.
