What You’ll Do

• Conduct animal disease surveillance, detection, and monitoring.
• Implement disease control measures and manage the movement of animals and animal products.
• Perform veterinary regulatory inspections in designated areas.
• Assist with wildlife disease investigations and research as needed.
• Provide primary animal health care, including administering medications and vaccines under veterinary supervision.
• Support in managing disease outbreaks and attending to injured animals.
• Conduct basic diagnostic tests and prepare samples for veterinary laboratories.
• Educate animal owners and farmers on disease prevention and responsible animal care.
• Advise on best practices regarding animal health, hygiene, nutrition, and housing.

What You’ll Need

• Grade 12 certificate plus a recognized BSc Agriculture (Animal Health) Degree or a National Diploma in Animal Health.
• Current registration with the South African Veterinary Council (SAVC) as an Animal Health Technician.
• A minimum of 1 year of appropriate post-qualification experience is advantageous.
• Knowledge of relevant animal health legislation and disease control practices.
• Proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to write reports and handle administrative tasks.
• Capability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
• Willingness to travel extensively and work after hours when necessary.
• Valid driver’s license and problem-solving skills.
