What You’ll Do

  • Promote sustainable development in the agricultural sector through effective extension methods.
  • Provide technical support and advice to organized agriculture and stakeholders.
  • Assist in planning and implementing agricultural projects and aftercare support.
  • Conduct situational analyses to identify the needs of local farmers.
  • Organize and conduct farmers’ days, demonstrations, and information sessions.
  • Empower producers and commodity groups to achieve self-reliance.
  • Maintain up-to-date databases of farmers and relevant stakeholders.
  • Compile and submit monthly and quarterly reports to ensure accountability.
  • Keep informed on agricultural policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Implement various programs, such as CASP and Land Care, to support the agricultural community.

What You’ll Need

  • A Grade 12 certificate plus an NQF Level 8 qualification in Agriculture or an equivalent qualification recognized by SAQA.
  • Compulsory registration with a relevant professional body (e.g., SACNASP).
  • A valid driver’s license, except for individuals with disabilities.
  • Strong knowledge of agricultural advisory principles and production management.
  • Proficiency in report writing and computer skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with agricultural technologies and project monitoring.
  • Ability to network and establish strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Language proficiency will be tested as part of the selection process.
