What You’ll Do

  • Provide farmers with general agricultural advice on crop production and irrigation.
  • Advise on efficient resource utilization, including soil and water management.
  • Supervise municipal officials and coordinate departmental programs in the municipality.
  • Support farmers in planning, implementing, and maintaining agricultural initiatives.
  • Promote best farming practices and introduce the latest agricultural technologies.
  • Facilitate the transfer of farming skills, focusing on various agricultural settings such as feedlots and abattoirs.
  • Undertake assigned activities while collaborating with senior staff members.
  • Maintain an up-to-date database of farmers and compile monthly and quarterly reports.
  • Stay informed about policies, procedures, and new developments in agriculture.

What You’ll Need

  • Grade 12 and a recognized 4-year BSc Degree in Agriculture or a Post Graduate Diploma in Agriculture (NQF Level 8), specializing in crop/plant production.
  • A Post Graduate Degree will be advantageous.
  • A minimum of 2 years of experience in extension and advisory services.
  • Registration with a Professional Council (SACNASP) is compulsory.
  • Strong knowledge of extension methodologies and project planning processes.
  • Excellent communication and report writing skills.
  • Proficiency in computer applications.
  • A valid driver’s license.
