About the Role
The Department of Public Works and Infrastructure is looking for dedicated individuals to fill three Works Inspector positions in the Joe Gqabi district, encompassing Anzw and Sarah Baartman. What You’ll Do
- Prepare specifications for work and develop detailed bills of quantities for projects.
- Conduct inspections on maintenance and infrastructure projects to ensure compliance with regulations.
- Compile estimates and update electronic maintenance systems regularly.
- Analyse project documentation and compile progress reports for stakeholders.
- Manage contractor activities and facilitate problem resolution during projects.
- Assist in the development and implementation of disaster management plans for schools.
- Validate completed work and verify invoices to recommend payments.
- Contribute to the development of School Maintenance Plans and budgets.
- Promote compliance with Occupational Health and Safety and Environmental Requirements at schools.
- Manage performance and development of employees within the team.
What You’ll Need
- National Diploma in any Built Environment qualification or an N3 with a passed trade test.
- Minimum of five years’ experience in a related field post-qualification.
- Valid driver’s licence and computer literacy.
- Familiarity with relevant legislation such as the National Building Standards Act and Occupational Health and Safety Act.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to manage stakeholder relationships effectively.
