What You’ll Do

  • Conduct inspections of abattoirs and slaughter facilities to ensure compliance with health and safety standards.
  • Provide training and raise awareness about veterinary public health issues within the community.
  • Perform audits of slaughter facilities, ensuring they meet regulatory requirements.
  • Fulfil administrative duties related to public health and veterinary services.
  • Collaborate with other health professionals and stakeholders to enhance public health initiatives.

What You’ll Need

  • A minimum of Grade 12 and an appropriate NQF level 6 qualification in Environmental Health, Animal Health, or Veterinary Public Health, or an equivalent qualification recognized by SAQA.
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience in a Veterinary Public Health environment.
  • Valid registration with the relevant Health Professions Council for South Africa (HPCSA) or South African Veterinary Council.
  • A valid driver’s license (excluding those with disabilities).
  • Proficiency in computer applications, along with strong analytical and report writing skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to engage effectively with diverse communities.
