What You’ll Do
- Manage the veterinary area in accordance with all relevant legislation and policies.
- Prevent the spread of both controlled and non-controlled diseases in animal populations.
- Provide primary animal health care to owners, particularly focusing on designated groups.
- Oversee the export of animals and animal products, ensuring compliance with both national and international requirements.
- Implement necessary remedial actions when export standards are not met.
- Develop and conduct training and awareness programs about veterinary services for local communities.
- Maintain accurate records and reports related to veterinary activities and export statistics.
What You’ll Need
- A Bachelor of Veterinary Science (BVSc/BVMCh) or an equivalent qualification recognized by the South African Veterinary Council.
- Compulsory registration as a Veterinarian with the South African Veterinary Council (SAVC).
- At least 1 year of post-qualification experience in animal health management.
- A valid Code B (or higher) driving license.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Animal Disease Act and the Meat Safety Act.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, and the ability to work effectively in a team.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
