What You’ll Do

  • Provide effective Veterinary Laboratory Diagnostic services.
  • Maintain and update veterinary databases to support statistical reporting.
  • Stay informed on relevant policies, procedures, and technologies to enhance laboratory services.
  • Monitor the health of laboratory animal populations, including sheep and chickens.
  • Advise on the control, treatment, and prevention of diagnosed animal diseases.
  • Supervise technical staff and manage laboratory operations efficiently.
  • Conduct post-mortem examinations and interpret findings for diagnostic purposes.
  • Ensure compliance with quality management systems and budgetary guidelines.

What You’ll Need

  • An appropriate BVSc/BVMCh qualification.
  • Registration as a Veterinarian with the South African Veterinary Council.
  • A minimum of 1-year post-qualification experience in a relevant field.
  • A valid code B driving licence (or reasonable access to transport for those with disabilities).
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and laboratory information management systems.
  • A keen interest in animal pathology, molecular biology, and laboratory diagnostics.
