What You’ll Do

  • Study and guide investigations in case dockets to build strong cases.
  • Conduct criminal proceedings and draft essential legal documents such as charge sheets and indictments.
  • Represent the State in all courts, ensuring the integrity of the justice system.
  • Prepare cases for court, including gathering additional evidence and drafting necessary documentation.
  • Present the State’s case, leading and cross-examining witnesses while addressing the court effectively.
  • Attend to legal representations, prepare opinions, and argue cases in the appropriate courts.
  • Handle motion applications related to criminal matters and conduct prosecutions on behalf of the State.
  • Collaborate with partners in the criminal justice system to enhance community involvement and satisfaction.

What You’ll Need

  • An LLB degree or an appropriate legal qualification for serving prosecutors seeking promotion.
  • Right of appearance as outlined in Section 25(2) of the NPA Act, 32 of 1998.
  • At least five years of post-qualification legal experience, with a high level of proficiency in prosecuting and presenting cases in court.
  • Experience in guiding criminal investigations and providing legal instructions regarding statutory offenses.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • A valid driver’s license and the ability to work independently, demonstrating professionalism and accountability.
