What You’ll Do
- Monitor and manage the collection, cataloguing, and publication of library materials within the court.
- Assess and recommend additions, removals, or updates to the library collection based on relevance.
- Organize and catalogue legal materials for easy retrieval by legal professionals.
- Implement classification systems and metadata to improve accessibility and organization of resources.
- Facilitate interlibrary loans to ensure access to materials not available in the court library.
- Provide reference assistance to judges, lawyers, court staff, and the public.
- Conduct training sessions for legal professionals on effective legal research methods.
- Advocate for the importance of the library within the court system and promote its resources.
- Supervise and develop library staff, ensuring high-quality service delivery.
What You’ll Need
- A National Diploma or Degree in Library Science or Information Science at NQF level 6.
- A minimum of two years of experience in Library Service and Information Systems.
- Knowledge and experience in a legal library environment, including international legal matters.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and library OPAC systems.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, along with excellent interpersonal relations.
- A valid driver’s license is advantageous.
