The Department of Social Development is seeking a dedicated Social Worker to join the team at Amari Special School in Welkom. This vital role involves working directly with learners who display challenging behaviours, providing them with the support they need to thrive. What You’ll Do

• Interview learners with challenging behaviours to understand their specific needs.
• Conduct developmental assessments to identify areas for improvement.
• Design and implement Individual Development Plans tailored to each learner.
• Provide therapeutic services and parental guidance.
• Collaborate with community resources to connect families with necessary support.
• Participate in multi-professional teamwork to enhance service delivery.
• Write comprehensive reports detailing assessments and interventions.
• Maintain a sound administrative system to track progress and outcomes.
• Organize social meetings to foster community engagement and support.

What You’ll Need

• Registration with the South African Council for Social Service Professions (SACSSP) as a Social Worker.
• A relevant 4-year degree in Social Work or an equivalent qualification.
• A valid driver’s license for travel to various locations.
• Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams and project management is preferred.
• Strong interpersonal and management skills to effectively interact with diverse stakeholders.
• Willingness to work irregular hours and travel extensively.
• Knowledge of one of the African languages spoken in the region.
• Computer literacy and excellent English written and verbal communication skills.
• Familiarity with the National Curriculum Statement and White Paper 6 on inclusive education.
• In-depth knowledge of policies governing education and social development.
