What You’ll Do

• Coordinate and monitor the administration of health and safety protocols.
• Conduct risk assessments and identify hazards within the workplace.
• Implement appropriate control measures to mitigate risks.
• Perform occupational health and safety inspections and audits.
• Facilitate quick responses and resolutions to identified safety faults.
• Support regional compliance with occupational health and safety requirements.
• Organize and lead OHS trainings and awareness programs within the department.
• Monitor the functionality of the OHS Committee at various regions.
• Provide secretariat support to OHS committees, coordinating meetings and ensuring follow-through on resolutions.
• Facilitate health and safety training and emergency preparedness initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with emergency equipment standards and conduct evacuation drills.
• Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, compiling reports with recommendations for prevention.
• Report injuries and occupational diseases to the Compensation Fund office.
• Assist in the development of OHS policies, procedures, and guidelines.

What You’ll Need

• A recognized National Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Occupational Health and Safety or a Degree in Environmental Health or Safety Management.
• 1 to 2 years of experience in the Occupational Health and Safety field.
• Extensive knowledge of the Occupational Health & Safety Act, Public Finance Management Act, and relevant health and safety legislation.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities.
• A valid driver’s license; SAMTRAC certification is an advantage.
