What You’ll Do

  • Develop and facilitate policies for delivering social work services across departments.
  • Monitor, interpret, and review legislation to ensure compliance with current requirements.
  • Propose amendments and create new policies or procedures as necessary, including financial costings.
  • Manage a social work policy unit, ensuring effective use of human resources and maintaining sound employment relations.
  • Provide mentorship and guidance to subordinates to enhance their professional development.
  • Establish efficient communication arrangements within the unit to ensure cohesive operations.
  • Conduct complex social work research and stay updated on developments in the field.
  • Perform all necessary administrative functions within the unit.

What You’ll Need

  • National Senior Certificate (or equivalent) and a three-year relevant qualification.
  • Registration with the South African Council for Social Service Professions as a Social Worker.
  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in social work, with at least 5 years focused on policy development.
  • Strong project management, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent networking and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Proficiency in policy analysis and development, financial management, and presentation skills.
  • Capability to compile complex reports and monitor performance effectively.
