About the Role
The Department of Employment and Labour is seeking a Senior Practitioner: Human Resource Development to join its team at the Provincial Office in Mmabatho, North West. This role is vital for ensuring that human resource development initiatives align with the needs of the province and contribute to the effectiveness of public service. By coordinating various HR Development programs, you will play a key part in enhancing workforce skills and capabilities, making a positive impact on the local community and the broader public sector.
In this position, you will also engage with stakeholders to implement performance management systems and facilitate orientation and induction programs. Your work will directly support the development of a skilled workforce, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the public service sector. Your efforts will help ensure that the province is equipped with the necessary human resources to meet the demands of its citizens effectively.

What You’ll Do
- Coordinate the implementation of Human Resource Development initiatives across the province.
- Oversee the Performance Management System to ensure staff performance aligns with departmental goals.
- Implement and manage Internship and Learnership Programs to create pathways for aspiring professionals.
- Facilitate Orientation and Induction Programs for new employees, ensuring a smooth transition into their roles.
- Manage resources, including human, financial, and physical assets, within the division to optimize operations.
What You’ll Need
- An undergraduate qualification in Human Resource Management, Training and Development, Public Management, or a related field at NQF Level 6 as recognized by SAQA.
- A minimum of two years of functional experience in Human Resource Development, Training, or Performance Management Services.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Public Service Act, Public Finance Management Act, and Labour Relations Act.
- Strong skills in communication (verbal and written), project management, and problem-solving.
- A valid driver’s license will be considered an advantage.
