The Department of Health is seeking a dedicated Administration Clerk for the People Development team at George Regional Hospital in the picturesque city of George, Western Cape. As a member of the People Management component, you will contribute to the department’s overarching goals of employee satisfaction and wellness, which are critical to the sustained success of healthcare delivery. What You’ll Do
- Provide administrative support for Employee Relations, including organizing meetings and maintaining confidential records.
- Coordinate activities related to Human Resource Development, such as managing training programs and compiling reports.
- Support Employee Health and Wellness initiatives by coordinating wellness activities and maintaining attendance and statistics.
- Maintain both manual and electronic filing systems, registers, and databases to ensure accurate record-keeping.
- Prepare routine correspondence and reports, as well as handle procurement requests and meeting arrangements.
- Offer reception and telephonic support within the People Management component.
- Assist with administrative tasks across the broader People Management team as needed.
What You’ll Need
- A minimum educational qualification of a Senior Certificate (or equivalent).
- Relevant administrative experience in Human Resources, Employee Relations, or related fields.
- Strong understanding of office administration and records management practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Familiarity with the Public Service Act, Labour Relations Act, and other relevant legislation is advantageous.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a commitment to customer service.
- Capacity to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to manage competing tasks and work effectively under pressure.
