What You’ll Do

  • Assist with the protection of nature reserves and their natural resources.
  • Lead law enforcement operations and nature conservation patrols.
  • Conduct inspections and repairs on boundary fences and maintain infrastructure.
  • Manage visitor behavior and actions within the reserves.
  • Report non-compliance and assist with fire management services.
  • Monitor ecological processes, habitats, and biodiversity by gathering data.
  • Implement ecological rehabilitation programs, including alien plant removal.
  • Support wildlife management and conservation programs.
  • Engage in administrative activities related to conservation efforts.

What You’ll Need

  • An NQF 4 (Grade 12) / ABET / AET level 3 qualification or equivalent recognized by SAQA.
  • A National Diploma in Nature Conservation or a related field is advantageous.
  • Valid SAPS Firearm Competency Certificate and related training.
  • One to two years of working experience in the Nature Conservation field.
  • A valid driver’s license (exemptions apply for persons with disabilities).
  • Physical fitness and no criminal record.
  • Knowledge of nature reserve management legislation and policies.
  • Proficiency in using a firearm and computer literacy.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and effective communication abilities.
