What You’ll Do

  • Monitor the implementation of the SADC Free Trade Area (FTA) and SACU Agreement
  • Prepare and participate in interdepartmental meetings and trade negotiations
  • Address trade enquiries from the agricultural industry under these agreements
  • Draft and present reports for the Agricultural Trade Forum, including monthly and quarterly updates
  • Provide advice on trade relations and policies impacting agricultural trade with African countries
  • Conduct trade analysis and monitor policies through the WTO Trade Policy Reviews
  • Consult with industry stakeholders to prepare for Tripartite FTA and African Continental FTA negotiations
  • Represent the Department of Agriculture in the National Implementation Committee

What You’ll Need

  • A Grade 12 certificate and a 4-year Bachelor’s degree in Agricultural Economics or a 3-year Bachelor’s degree plus an Honours degree in Agricultural Economics/Economics
  • A minimum of three years of supervisory experience in an agricultural trade or economic environment
  • Knowledge of the Public Finance Management Act and advanced analytical techniques
  • Proficiency in computer skills and statistical analysis
  • Strong negotiation, communication, and presentation skills
  • A valid driver’s license
