About the Role
The Department of Public Works and Infrastructure is seeking a highly motivated individual for the position of SCM Clerk: S&T Claims and Advances Logistical Services, based at the Head Office in Pretoria. This role plays a crucial part in the smooth operation of financial processes within the government sector, serving as a direct point of contact for clients submitting travel claims. By ensuring that claims are processed accurately and efficiently, the successful candidate will directly contribute to the integrity of public service in South Africa, helping to support essential services and programs for communities across the nation.
In this role, you will be responsible for verifying both domestic and international Subsistence and Travel (S&T) claims and advances, including those from contractors and consultants. Your work will not only facilitate prompt payments but also uphold the standards of the Department’s travel and subsistence policies. What You’ll Do
- Serve as the first point of contact for clients submitting travel claims
- Verify domestic and international S&T claims and advances
- Monitor outstanding international advance allowances and follow up with relevant officials
- Assist in preparing financial year-end S&T accruals with necessary documentation
- Maintain accurate records of advances and claims in the Travel Register
- Reconcile claims and submit completed documents to HR Administration
- Address all inquiries related to Subsistence and Travel via phone, email, and in-person
What You’ll Need
- A minimum of National Senior Certificate/Grade 12 or equivalent qualification
- Strong financial, organizational, and communication skills (both verbal and written)
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work under pressure
- Computer literacy, particularly in MS Office
- A valid driver’s license
- Knowledge of Domestic and International travel and subsistence policy
