What You’ll Do
- Implement and monitor Occupational Health and Safety Policies in schools.
- Establish and maintain functional safety committees.
- Develop comprehensive safety plans, including contingency measures.
- Conduct safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments in schools.
- Coordinate Health and Safety training programs for staff and students.
- Facilitate safety awareness campaigns to promote a culture of safety.
- Liaise with external health and safety consultants for training and support.
- Prepare reports on safety findings and recommendations for school management.
- Support the District Occupational Health and Safety Committee in its initiatives.
What You’ll Need
- National Senior Certificate (or equivalent) and a relevant three-year qualification in Health Safety, Education, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Safety, or Ergonomics.
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, preferably in the education sector.
- Valid Driver’s license (excluding code A/A1).
- Knowledge of relevant legislation including the Occupational Health and Safety Act and National Environmental Management Act.
- Strong report writing, planning, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in at least two official languages of the Western Cape Government.
- Computer literacy and effective presentation skills.
