What You’ll Do

• Implement and monitor Occupational Health and Safety Policies in schools.
• Establish and maintain functional safety committees.
• Develop comprehensive safety plans, including contingency measures.
• Conduct safety inspections, audits, and risk assessments in schools.
• Coordinate Health and Safety training programs for staff and students.
• Facilitate safety awareness campaigns to promote a culture of safety.
• Liaise with external health and safety consultants for training and support.
• Prepare reports on safety findings and recommendations for school management.
• Support the District Occupational Health and Safety Committee in its initiatives.

What You’ll Need

• National Senior Certificate (or equivalent) and a relevant three-year qualification in Health Safety, Education, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Safety, or Ergonomics.
• A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience, preferably in the education sector.
• Valid Driver’s license (excluding code A/A1).
• Knowledge of relevant legislation including the Occupational Health and Safety Act and National Environmental Management Act.
• Strong report writing, planning, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in at least two official languages of the Western Cape Government.
• Computer literacy and effective presentation skills.
