What You’ll Do

  • Provide safe anaesthetic care to patients during surgical procedures
  • Conduct pre-operative assessments and advise surgeons on patient work-up
  • Manage post-operative analgesia and recovery from anaesthesia
  • Participate in intensive care therapy and critical care management
  • Learn and develop critical skills in anaesthesia practice and ICU Medicine
  • Attend tutorials and assist in the training of interns, medical students, nursing staff, and paramedics
  • Supervise in theatre/ICU and manage theatre lists and staff, especially after hours
  • Engage in research and audits related to anaesthesia, intensive care, and pain management

What You’ll Need

  • Appropriate qualification allowing registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Practitioner
  • Registration with HPCSA for Independent Practice
  • Completed FCA Part 1 and relevant post-graduate qualifications
  • Current certification in ATLS/ACLS
  • Clinical experience in Internal Medicine or Critical Care under supervision
  • Experience in Anaesthesiology and Perioperative Medicine
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
