What You’ll Do
- Effectively apply sterilisation processes and techniques for medical instruments, linen, and supplies.
- Promote and adhere to infection control and health and safety regulations.
- Check, decontaminate, pack, and sterilise medical instruments and other supplies.
- Assist with cleaning and testing of sterilisation equipment, including autoclaves and disinfectant washers.
- Maintain sterilisation equipment in optimal working condition and ensure resources are used cost-effectively.
- Ensure surgical instrument trays are packed and marked correctly for efficient use.
- Monitor and maintain adequate stock levels, reporting any lost instruments or equipment.
What You’ll Need
- A minimum educational qualification of General Education and Training Certificate (GETC)/Grade 9 (Std 7).
- Relevant experience in a Central Sterilisation Service Department.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work cooperatively in a team environment.
- Basic understanding of disinfection, decontamination, and sterilisation processes.
- Willingness to work shifts, including weekends, public holidays, and night duties.
- Flexibility to rotate within the CSSD department.
