What You’ll Do
- Deliver comprehensive anaesthesia services for surgical procedures in the hospital.
- Provide critical care management for patients in the wards.
- Conduct pre-operative, intraoperative, and post-operative anaesthetic assessments.
- Engage in clinical teaching and training for interns, students, and nursing staff.
- Rotate through Groote Schuur, New Somerset, and Mowbray Maternity Hospitals.
- Oversee management duties, including statistics, presentations, and research.
- Manage the epidural and pain service at Mowbray Maternity Hospital.
What You’ll Need
- An appropriate qualification for registration with the Health Professional Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Medical Specialist in Anaesthesia.
- Registration with the HPCSA as a Medical Specialist in Anaesthesia.
- For Grade 1: No experience required post-registration.
- For Grade 2: A minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience as a Medical Specialist in Anaesthesia.
- For Grade 3: A minimum of 10 years’ relevant experience as a Medical Specialist in Anaesthesia.
- A valid driver’s licence.
- Competence in obstetric anaesthesia is preferred.
- Strong teamwork skills and ability to work with diverse staff levels.
- Interest in training junior anaesthetists and students.
- Computer literacy is essential.
