About the Role
The Department of Health is seeking dedicated Emergency Care Officers Grade 1 and 3 to join its team across various institutions in the Metropole District and surrounding regions, including Cape Winelands, Central Karoo, Garden Route, Overberg, and West Coast Districts. What You’ll Do
- Provide efficient roadside to bedside emergency care within defined time frames.
- Utilize communication tools to ensure safe patient care protocols.
- Complete manual and electronic patient care reports as well as trip authority log sheets.
- Maintain emergency vehicles and equipment to ensure readiness.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues, other services, and the public regarding patient care.
- Support your supervisor and actively participate in personal well-being initiatives.
What You’ll Need
- Successful completion of the Intermediate Life Support (ILS) course for Grade 3, or Basic Life Support (BLS) course for Grade 1, allowing for registration with the HPCSA.
- Valid registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa as either an Ambulance Emergency Assistant (AEA) or Basic Ambulance Assistant (BAA).
- A valid code C1 driver’s license and professional driver’s permit (PrDP).
- Good communication and interpersonal skills, with a solid understanding of emergency care protocols.
- Physical and mental fitness to perform the inherent demands of the job.
