What You’ll Do
- Perform and assist in treatment planning and coordination for patients undergoing radiation therapy.
- Conduct CT simulations and ensure accurate patient positioning and immobilization.
- Collaborate with Radiation Therapy Technologists (RTTs), community service personnel, and students to ensure effective patient management.
- Administer patient care and maintain quality assurance measures on the treatment floor.
- Provide administrative and informational support to the Chief Radiographer.
- Participate in continuous professional development and assist in the training of students and visiting staff.
- Support Medical Physicists in quality control of equipment and monitor stock of consumables.
- Liaise with various healthcare professionals regarding patient involvement and departmental activities.
What You’ll Need
- A National Diploma or Degree in Radiography (Radiation Oncology) allowing for HPCSA registration as an independent practitioner.
- Registration with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Radiographer.
- Relevant experience in Radiation Oncology, with specific requirements based on the grade of the position.
- Good communication and report writing skills, along with the ability to work effectively in a team.
- Strong problem-solving skills and proficiency in computer applications, including MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and principles guiding radiation oncology and clinical healthcare in the public sector.
- Willingness to rotate within different work areas and fulfill after-hours on-call duties as required.
